WeSCoS Colloquium #13 “What is needed to respond in advance to serious natural disasters: Based on the results of Social Science of Crisis Thinking, Institute of Social Science, the University of Tokyo”
Presenter: Shin Arita (Professor, Institute of Social Science, University of Tokyo)
Date and time: 3:00 pm-, February 21, 2025 (Friday)
Abstract:
The Institute of Social Science at the University of Tokyo worked on Crisis Response Studies as a four-year, institute-wide project starting in 2016. Social Science of Crisis Thinking is a new academic discipline that examines the mechanisms and countermeasures for various crises that occur in society from a social science perspective. Based on the results of the project and the Social Science of Crisis Thinking Survey conducted as part of the project, this report considers what is needed to ensure that appropriate responses are made in advance to crises caused by serious natural disasters.
